Coffee Runs Update – April 2021

Seems like 2021 is another year where we went directly from winter to summer. We have a great array of Coffee Runs on the schedule and at least one new one being developed. Thank you to Rich Adua, James Ball, John Collins, and Steve Tougias for all the work they do to put on these great events.

Coffee Runs are typically a 1/2 day event, either Saturday or Sunday morning, where participants drive on scenic country roads as a group. There is a driver/navigator meeting where detailed directions are provided and any last minute changes are discussed. The Coffee Runs are held in the Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts areas.

On each Coffee Run there are a couple of volunteering opportunities in support of the PCA Driving Tour Standards:
Sweeper: Be the last car in the line and assist any participants who may encounter car or health difficulties, advising the tour/group leader if vehicles became separated from the group.
Observer’s Report: Submit the PCA Observer’s Report, takes about 10 minutes to fill out the form on the PCA website.  Instructions will be provided.

Please contact the Coffee Run lead if you would like to volunteer.

We do have a change in the scheduling of the Kringle Candle Coffee Run. It has been moved from June 13th to June 27th.

We will again this year have a form to register for each Coffee Run but instead of using Constant Contact we will be using a form that will be located in the Challenge Event Calendar for a given Coffee Run. The registration form goes live at 7 pm on the Tuesday prior to the Coffee Run.

RidewithGPS NAVIGATION PHONE APP

Through the generosity of Hagerty Insurance a RidewithGPS navigation app club account is available to all CVR members.

The RidewithGPS app provides turn by turn directions during the Coffee Run on your smart phone. The details on how to set up the app can be found – click here.

Important Note(s):
Please complete all the setup steps below prior to the Coffee Run or Tour that will be using the app (it will take a few days to get through the membership approval process). It will not be possible to set it up the morning of the event.  Routes will typically be available for downloading from a few days prior to the event until the day of the event.

PCA DRIVING TOUR STANDARD BRIEFING

PCA has developed standards for driving tours that have to be followed by the PCA regions such as CVR.  Please review the standards we follow – click here

COVID-19 CONSIDERATIONS

At least for the start of the CVR Coffee Run season, we will follow the process we used last year.

Participants need to bring:

  1. Face mask (required)
  2. Other personal protective equipment, particularly hand sanitizer and gloves
  3. A pen for signing the waiver (to minimize contact of items between participants, there will be one waiver per car. )

Please read the complete description of the process – click here

Thank you in advance for doing your part in helping us put on safe events.
