April means the beginning of warmer weather and getting our cars back on the road. It also means the kick off of the 2021 Rally planning season. Up first is the Summer Rally scheduled for June 6, 2021. This year we will return to our normal format with in-person meetings, checkpoints and lunch at the ending location. We have begun to develop our general route and most importantly the selection of host venues.

The Summer Rally will begin in North Haven, heading north through Northford, East Haven and ending in Branford. We are excited about the starting and ending locations for this event. Below are the details of the Rally venues:

Starting Location: Moonrise Cafe 2 Broadway, North Haven, CT 06473

Ending Location: Stony Creek Brewery 5 Indian Neck Ave, Branford, CT 06405

We are returning to in-person hosted events for 2021. This means that we will be having the traditional driver’s meeting and registration at the starting location as well as a lunch at the ending location. We will be exercising all necessary COVID precautions in order to keep everyone safe and still make sure we all have fun. To this end, we have a great section of outside picnic tables right next to the water where we can socially distance and still have a great time.

The format for the Summer Rally is similar to those in the past few years. We will have several sections split up by checkpoints. There will be both photo identification and navigational gimmick sections. In the photo identification sections, participants are asked to identify scenes or points of interest along the Rally route – no tricky instructions. Additionally, there will also be navigational gimmick sections where participants are trying to find the correct route by following the provided instructions.
