Searching for some “RAREAIR” at the Saratoga Automobile Museum

The cooler weather on Saturday, July 17th, after the Lime Rock Park IMSA race, provided the motivation for a road trip to the Saratoga Automobile Museum in Saratoga Springs, New York.

I was heading to Saratoga to view the 16 iconic air-cooled Porsche models from CVR member Steven Harris’s Collection. Alongside the Porsches in the RAREAIR exhibit are photographs by automotive photographer James Limpman. The exhibit highlights include the famed serial #18 1984 911 SCRS, a one-of-twenty 964 RS N-GT “Macau”, the infamous “widow-maker” 993 GT2, plus multiple Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance winning 356 Speedsters, Coupes, and Cabriolets. The CVR-sponsored IMSA PorschePlatz, Lime Rock’s Sunday in the Park Concours this past June, and the upcoming Historic Festival events have provided the opportunity for us to view several of Steven Harris’s collections which he has driven to our events.

I hope the gallery below of my photographs will motivate you to take a road trip to the Saratoga Automobile Museum and join the Porsche Lawn Show that will take place there on Saturday, August 14th from 9 am to 2 pm.
