What’s this NEW Porsche?

Can you identify which new Porsche this is?

Find out NEXT MONTH or take a guess!

This month was a busy month for the Porsche customer teams racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. They started, hopefully by design, to be out on the West coast first at Laguna Seca, then at the Long Beach street circuit.

On September 12th, IMSA held their race at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The course is 2.238 miles long with 11 turns, including the infamous “Corkscrew”. Again the Porsche RSR-19 of the WeatherTech GTLM Porsche took third place with Cooper MacNeil and Matt Campbell.

They must be getting tired with third place and only three entries. Is this the way Porsche wants to podium? NO! But for now, that is all Porsche has in IMSA. I don’t think Porsche likes it, but if that is the way to get third place, okay, you got it and we will have to wait for something better to come along in the future.

In GTD, the Pfaff Porsche won and was on a roll of two wins in a row and their third this season. Patrick Long and Trent Hindman, with Wright Motorsports, achieved third place on the podium again. This is a team that just keeps plugging away and slowly gaining points towards the championship. Lastly, the Hardpoint EBM Porsche in GTD, with Rob Ferriol and Katherine Legge, again made the top 10, slowly making improvements. Katherine Legge drove like a leader and kept up with the lap times of them. Hardpoint is coming together as a new team with a competitive setup.

Next for the Porsche customer teams was the Long Beach street circuit. What many people don’t understand about street circuits is that they are bumpier than a race track, with the exception of Sebring. A race track is made for racing, where a street circuit is just that, streets and intersections made into a racecourse. Also, you might have noticed how tight the course was and how hard it was to pass as they have to pass only in the areas that give them enough room.

Nonetheless, the Porsche GTLM of WeatherTech took third place. Pfaff motorsports in GTD came in second and Wright Motorsports in third. More podiums for Porsche and that put Pfaff Motorsports in the GTD lead.

I am looking forward to seeing you at a CVR or other event this year. I will have more info on that new Porsche at the beginning of next month. I would like to thank the many club members for their kind emails on my articles. I am looking to bringing you more info about PORSCHE each month.
