Columns Editor's Notes

Between the Lines – Oct 2021

Welcome to the October edition of Challenge

In this issue:

In his column Straightaway this month, Club President Allen Fossbender announces the recipient of 2021’s Frank Carrington Award – CVR’s most prestigious recognition. I’d tell you who it was, but I don’t want to blow the surprise. You’re going to have to read the article.

Driver Education VP Dave Vaccaro recaps September’s recent DE event at Lime Rock Park; Tourmeister Maria Capella updates us on remaining Coffee Runs for 2021; Paul Kudra talks AutoX and the standings in advance of the Hoffman Cup Runoff on October 16th (just 2 short weeks away) and Tim and Christine Beckwith share their thoughts on the season’s – and their – final Rally event. Joe Kunecki makes his case for why he is convinced (Pink) pigs really fly and Programs VP Jeff Coe talks about the recent virtual Monthly Meeting with CVR members (and avid Porsche Collectors), Rob, Lynn, and Mike Keller.

There are also two Feature articles this month. Walt Hyjek has another in his popular On The Road series and in With great Porsches, comes great responsibility automotive journalist Roger Garbow gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the massive effort SpeedSport Tuning went through to move $39,000,000 worth of rare Porsche’s from Steven Harris’ collection to Lime Rock Park for the 39th Historic Festival.

Enjoy.
