February 2025 Monthly meeting review:

Negative 109 dry ice cleaning – Milford

When it comes to February monthly meetings you never know what you are going to get weather-wise. I can recall a few years back, pre-Covid, when we had a meeting in February and it snowed. It’s usually always cold but we did not have either case for the 2025 meeting, as the temperature was pleasant with no sign of precipitation. That was great as the CVRers made their way to the shop of new host, Negative 109 Dry-ice cleaning in Milford. Owner Mike Landino was excited to welcome the CVRers and show them what his business is all about.

The CVRers arrived on time and jumped right into socialization as they caught up with each other. With the pleasant weather, talk was in the air of the many Porsche-related activities that will be taking place in the not-so-distant future. With the attendees all present and accounted for, the CVRers enjoyed a great meal from Lassie’s of Milford, provided by Negative 109, while the socialization continued.

With dinner complete it was time to call the meeting to order. The CVR board members said hello and talked about 2025 activities.  We also welcomed a few new members and discussed parts for sale in the Mart. With the business meeting complete it was time to hand the meeting over to Mike for the evening’s presentation.

Mike had worked up a nice presentation on the services his shop provides. One of the things that differentiates Mike’s shop from other similar shops is his knowledge of Porsches. Mike has personally worked on many Porsches, from a variety of years, and knows them well. His presentation made that quite clear. He started by giving us the basics on Dry Ice. Did you know that solid dry ice is negative 109 degrees? Hence the name of his shop! We learned that dry ice literally “smashes” off contaminants. It doesn’t melt, it “sublimates” or goes from a solid to a gas. This process results in “blasting off” of the contaminants. Fascinating.

With the Dry Ice basics covered, Mike walked us through a presentation of before and after results on various Porsches that he has worked on. Calling the results “dramatic” is an understatement. Slide after slide showed beautiful paint and coatings emerging from under contaminants. Just amazing. The meeting attendees were quite fascinated by the presentation as a number of questions were handled by Mike, covering everything from the process to the cost.

To wrap up our meeting, Mike was kind enough to donate a few great door prizes including a gift certificate for shop services. Thank you Mike, along with assistants Suzi and Dan for hosting our monthly meeting.

Once the meeting adjourned, I happened to notice a CVRer go out to their car and bring in a part for service. Alright! Keep Negative 109 of Milford in mind when you need dry ice cleaning.

And please CVRers, be sure to patronize our sponsors and when you do, be sure to tell them you are from CVR and that you heard about them at a monthly meeting or other event.

Thanks, your CVR programs crew.
