March 2025 Monthly Meeting review:

Castro Oasis – West Haven

CVR has started out strong for the 2025 monthly meeting season with our second new host for the year! For March, we found the CVRers making their way to Castro Oasis in West Haven for the monthly meeting. The weather gods were once again smiling on us with another beautiful day.

Upon arrival at Castro Oasis, we were greeted by a most impressive shop. Everything is new and clean. Our host for the evening was Luis Castro and he was very excited to welcome CVR and very proud to share his impressive business with the membership. As the CVRers arrived they had much to take in. The reception area is beautiful and bright with the first of many impressive features on view to your left, the automated, brushless, car wash system. Moving through the reception area, the CVRers made their way to the main shop area which was also beautiful, bright, and clean. Parked around the perimeter of the shop were many special cars belonging to the business. Many of these vehicles are unusual and have some sort of history with the business, including a small Toyota pickup that Luis learned to drive on, when he was 9 years old! Of course, a couple of late model Porsches were present. Two 2024 Cayman GT4RSs, one in Viper Green and the other in Racing Yellow, stood center stage to highlight some of the products Luis and his team use in their daily operations.

The membership greeted each other while taking in the sights of the shop and before long it was time for dinner. Luis pulled in some favors for our event by asking his family to prepare a delicious meal for the membership. It was amazing and followed by cookies baked by his sister (his sister runs a business which bakes the cookies. You can find them at Evjoy Bakery of Milford).

With the delicious dinner complete it was time to call the meeting to order. The CVR board members that were present greeted the attendees and then reviewed the upcoming 2025 activities. Dave Vaccaro brought us up to speed on the latest developments surrounding Porsches@TheRock 2025. We also welcomed a few new members and discussed a couple of cars that were for sale in the Mart. With the CVR business meeting complete it was time for the main event and we handed the microphone over to Luis.

Luis welcomed the CVRers and then went on to talk about the history of the business. It always makes one proud to live in our wonderful country when you hear a success story such as Luis’s. Fortunately, Luis has had a close and supportive family as he has worked his way to the successful business presented to CVR that night.

Luis then went on to highlight the many services he does at the shop including ceramic coating, PPF, window tints, and all forms of auto detailing. It was most impressive to hear Luis discuss the process he went through in picking out the products he utilizes today. When he was starting out, he used a variety of products, side by side, with many installed on his own personal vehicles to evaluate and then decide which products he would offer to his future customers and put his name behind.

With the presentation complete, Luis took questions from the audience on a variety of car-care related subjects. We then closed the meeting with a door prize gift certificated donated by Luis and the Castro Oasis team. Thank you to Luis, his brother Jonnathan, and his sister Evelyn, for hosting at this most impressive location.

And please CVRers, be sure to patronize our sponsors and when you do, be sure to tell them you are from CVR and that you heard about them at a monthly meeting or other event.

Thanks, your CVR programs crew.
