January 2026 Monthly Meeting Review:

Porsches and pancakes at The Trailer Depot

The CVR monthly meeting calendar kicked off 2026 with a return to long-time CVR host, The Trailer Depot in Northford. After all the recent snow, it was great to have a nice, sunny day, even though the temperatures remained sub-freezing. It was also great to see a good number of fine Porsches in the parking lot. With my 968s hibernating, I chose to drive the snow-tire-equipped 2017 Macan.

As always, the first item on the agenda was socialization! We had 50+ members with us for the event and they were excited to catch up with each other.

Next up was breakfast! I had stopped at Chip’s Restaurant on the way to the meeting to pick up two boxes of delicious pancakes, and the hungry CVRers were waiting when I arrived. Once we had things set up, the attendees dug in and enjoyed them.

One thing that had me laugh – we know the CVRers appreciate the finer things in life. I noticed a few of them had brought their own syrup, acquired from high-end syrup locations such as Vermont, New Hampshire, and Canada. Nothing but the best to go along with those Chip pancakes!

We then moved on to the business portion of the meeting. I welcomed everyone and then informed them where I had been – on a Princess cruise! I wanted to make sure the attendees knew that PCA has an affiliate relationship with Princess Cruises. Due to that relationship, PCAers receive a great discount (up to 20% off) on cruises. I just booked a cruise for January 2027. Look into that if you are interested, or ask me.

We then had The Trailor Depot owner, Mike Duhamel, say hello to everyone and give a quick update on what is going on with the store. He highlighted their inventory and the many services that The Trailer Depot provides. If you need a trailer, you KNOW where to go.

We then moved on to the CVR business meeting. President Bob greeted the group and brought up the board members who were in attendance for updates on what to expect from the 2026 calendar. As always, the year looks to be a busy one for the CVRers, with plenty of events going on for members to take advantage of, including this year’s Parade being held close by in Lake Placid, New York, this June.

The highlight of the meeting (besides the pancakes) was the presentation of the Years of Service award to Mike Keller with some amazing artwork by CVRer Paul Kudra. You’ll recall that Mike ran the CVR concours for many years, along with other contributions. Congrats Mike, and thank you for your contribution to CVR over the years. We hope to see you back again in the future.

With the pancakes eaten, the meeting concluded with our door prizes, which featured gift cards provided by The Trailer Depot. A great time was had by all. Thanks to The Trailer Depot team for hosting!!! (Mike, Antoinette, and the crew).

No meeting in February, so we’ll see you in March at Castro Oasis in West Haven!

Thanks, Jeff Coe and Allen Fossbender, your CVR Programs crew.
