CVR Concours 2017

Pulling into the picturesque entrance to Cranbury Park at 6:20 a.m. it was hard to discern where to drive. By 7 the heavy fog remained, but one could catch a glimpse of three rather impressive Porsches: between our early arriving volunteers, we had two 356 Speedsters and a 997 GT3 RS.

Shortly after we had completed the field set-up, the snake eye headlights of an emerging Carrera GT pierced the fog.  After recognizing what it was, I thought to myself, “If a Carrera GT made it, any car can make it!”  Soon thereafter, our field grew larger and larger.  A strong contributor to the attendance and variety of Porsches was our special display.

Arguably our most inclusive theme yet, the “Porsches through the Decades” display of cars showcased great variety from each decade.  One could clearly trace the progression of Porsche’s iconic cars, from the earliest model in attendance, a 1957 356 Carrera GT Speedster to the newest, a 2017 991 Turbo S.  There were various air-cooled 911s from ’77, ’87, and ’97, we had two 924s, two Caymans, two 991 Turbos, and even three Macans.

As always, we experienced strong competition in many of our People’s Choice car classes.  In some classes unique colors prevailed, in others impeccable detailing prevailed, and in others fascinating history and patina prevailed.  However, one principal remained consistent among all participants – everyone had a terrific time!
