CVR 2017 Season Full Speed Ahead
Apologies for being a bit late this month, as some of the information in this issue may well be a bit outdated by the time you receive it. Please remember to always check the CVR web site for the most up-to-date information. We go to print 2-3 weeks before Challenge reaches your mailbox, and our delivery is dependent on the U.S. Postal Service as well.
I’ve just returned from a successful CVR Club Race weekend—my volunteer duties this year included some seat time in the Danbury Porsche, Macan Pace Car riding “communications” shotgun with CVR Past President Steve Cloud. Not exactly tough duty, windows rolled up and Air Conditioning running so that we could clearly hear instructions from Race Control. And that Macan! What an amazing car, I’ve always liked the Cayenne but to me it felt it like an SUV with a touch of “sports-car-like” handling. The Macan on the other hand feels more like a big 911—I need one!
We expect photos to start coming in from photographers that cover the race each year and are looking forward to starting work on our annual “Club Race Issue” of Challenge, which once again is scheduled for the July issue.
The “Member Anniversary” page is a section of the magazine that I enjoy preparing as I am always curious to see how many of the names I recognize. This month I’d like to give a shout out to our Webmeister AND Tourmeister, Phil Capella. Phil and his wife Maria have been CVR members for 10 years, but in that time period they have really stepped up and put together a great many successful Spring and Fall tours —while Phil works to keep the CVR Website up-to-date as well—one of the most important jobs at CVR. Now that they have been joined by Caroline and Alan Davis and Karen and Tom Russell the Tour Program is more varied and exciting than ever.
And Happy 10th Anniversary to a new found friend with a connection that goes back close to fifty years, Dr. Joel Buchalter. Turns out we both started our life journeys in the same neighborhood—where our parents were friends. A small world indeed—it’s not just the cars…
Look forward to meeting you at a future CVR event, and seeing your name on the “Anniversary” list.
