Between The Lines – February 2019

Running On Empty

As I believe most of you already know, Challenge is in the process of transforming from a traditional printed magazine to fully digital delivery. Our transition committee is working to do this in a controlled fashion to ease the changeover as much as possible. The details are still being worked out but rest assured that membership will receive plenty of advance notice as the roll-out begins.

I have received quite a number of emails from CVR members (the most that I have ever received on any one subject) who are not happy about the prospect, but unfortunately continuing with a printed version is impractical, for a number of reasons. In case some of you missed that conversation I will go over some of the details again.

Firstly, we have been looking for a replacement for the editors position for two years, that search has proven fruitless, and quite honestly I no longer have the amount of free time needed to devote to producing this publication every month. More importantly, the cost issues that relate to producing and mailing a printed publication make the printed version of Challenge totally unsustainable from a financial standpoint.

On a positive note, spring is right around the corner and we are looking forward to participating in many of the great activities that CVR has to offer. We are already signed up for the Spring Tour and my track car is being prepped for the upcoming DE season as well, I’ve got the April 15th Lime Rock date prominently marked on my official CVR calendar. If you have not already tried DE, what are you waiting for? It’s a blast, you will NOT damage your car, and did I mention… it’s a blast!
