2019 Spring Rally

We thought the expression was “April showers bring May flowers”, but this year that did not hold true. On a rainy May 5th we were joined by 17 Rally teams and 7 volunteers for a great event despite the weather. While we had a few last minute cancelations due to the rain, along with the Rally volunteers we had 43 CVR members on Sunday! We kicked off the event at Kent Coffee and Chocolate Co. in Kent, CT for some coffee and delicious pastries.

The Rally route started in Kent and went along some beautiful driving roads through Sharon, Cornwall, Warren and ended back in Kent at the Fife N’ Drum Restaurant right next door to our starting location. This Rally was divided into 3 parts. The first part was a photo identification section asking participants to identify sites along the route. At the same time Rallyists had to answer questions relating to their surroundings. The second two sections were gimmick sections. These gimmick sections required good communication, a keen eye for detail and navigational prowess. There were a possible 144 points and below are the Top 3 Rally teams on Sunday:

A special thanks goes out to all of the extremely dedicated volunteers: Joe & Norma Jean Macauto, Chris & Cheryl Caouette, Dan & Janice Cooley, and Allen Fossbender. The team put in countless hours and ensured every aspect of the event ran smoothly. We have a ton of great photos taken by one of our volunteers, Cheryl Caouette. Cheryl photographed Rally participants as they exited the Cornwall Covered Bridge. If you participated and are interested in a photo of your car, please let me know and we will see if we have one for you.
