2021 was a cautiously optimistic and highly productive year for the Connecticut Valley Region, managed largely under ongoing COVID restrictions. Led by President Allen Fossbender, the region operated virtually for governance while delivering a full calendar of activities, including ten Drivers Education events with 200 participants, a non‑spectator club race, six autocrosses plus a runoff, three rallies, eighteen coffee runs, and two concours events. Membership exceeded goals, growing 4% to 3,552 through targeted outreach, strengthened partnerships, and refreshed programming, while CVR expanded community impact with its first food drive and a sock drive. Financially strong with $78K in cash, the club also accelerated digital capabilities through Challenge integration and a rapid website rebuild after a mid‑year outage, closing the year by recognizing outstanding contributors and reinforcing momentum for the future.

CVR Club History 2020

2020 began with ambitious plans for a full season of CVR activities, but rapidly shifted course in response to the COVID‑19 pandemic. Under President Phil Capella’s leadership, the Board adapted quickly—moving governance to Zoom, transitioning Challenge to a digital‑only format with a new app, and keeping members informed through frequent communications. While many spring events were canceled, chairs delivered creative alternatives including virtual rallies, a virtual concours, and digital engagement, while Drivers Education and Autocross resumed mid‑year under strict no‑passenger protocols and innovative formats. Coffee runs, limited in‑person events, and a socially distanced concours rounded out the year, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and strong volunteer leadership as CVR sustained momentum through unprecedented disruption.
