GOOD BYE to a Great Year!

A Happy and Healthy New Year to all CVR members!

2020 will bring new adventures, new friends and a new lineup of Porsche drivers for the IMSA series in 2020.

You will remember Laurens Vanthoor and Earl Bamber, now known as team Bamthoor. They will be together for 2020. Last year we had Nick Tandy and Patrick Pilet but in 2020 we will have Nick Tandy and Frederic Makowicki as co-driver. Frederic has been for many years the fill-in for Porsche teams as their third driver in the longer races. This year he will a permanent Co-driver.

I have known Frederic for about 5 years, as I would see him at Petit Le Mans-Road Atlanta, and Sebring. He is a very energetic Frenchman with a great smile.

2019 another one for Porsche and the record books. Taking the world champion title in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the title in the North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, victory in the Intercontinental GT Challenge and a successful debut of the Formula E Championship making for one of the most successful years for Porsche motorsports worldwide.

Many people have said that the Porsche Club is a racing club. We are not a racing club but have racing within Porsche. It is Porsche and it’s people that make a great performance car that can meet the many needs of many of its Porsche Club members and activities that we encounter during the year.

Again in June Porsche will combine its team to compete in WEC and IMSA to take on the world’s greatest endurance event at Le Mans with four vehicles.

As I plan for 2020 and the upcoming races in IMSA, I look forward to continuing to inform and enlighten you about Porsche and its team to take on the world again!

See you at a CVR event or another event during the year! Why not try in 2020 to participate in one or more of the events within CVR.
