Yes, Porsche’s history of racing started January 25th at the 24 hours of Daytona.
This is not only the start of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, but it is also the start of Porsche’s history of racing, including a new mix of Porsche team drivers and a Porsche race car that is 95% new.
This is the only 24-hour race for this series. It will push the cars, the teams, and the drivers to compete to win their championship. They will also compete among two other classes of cars to win their class, along with points needed to win the manufacturer’s championship, and the driver’s championship.
With 39 cars entered for this 24 hours of Daytona, that comes out to be, if equally spaced out 11 cars per mile, 1 car every 480 feet or 11 cars into one turn. That is what makes up IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. You not only have to race your class but other class competitors, all while pushing the limit to do your best around this track, day and night and in any weather that happens during this race.

This is Frederic Makowicki, co-driver with Nick Tandy. This will be his first full season in the IMSA Series. He brings a great resume and as you can see a great smile. He has been with the team for seven years and was the 3rd driver for the team in the longer endurance races of 24 hours of Daytona, Sebring and the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta 10 hour race.

The team is ready and has proven it. Already at the Roar, which is testing and qualifying for the 24 hours of Daytona, early this month, Porsche has qualified 4th and 5th with the #912 of Earl Bamber, beating the #911 of Nick Tandy.
Happy New Year and have a great year participating in the CVR events during 2020! See you there!
