Actually, it’s not only in the air. It’s on the calendar as well. It seems like we barely got the season started and it’s almost time to begin thinking about storing your toy for the season. Sadly, resistance is futile.
Before you put your car away for the season, you might want to check out the calendar because CVR has a few more events on tap this season. This coming Saturday, October 3rd, is our Porsche Only Car Show at the Farmington Polo Grounds; the following day is the popular Scituate Reservoir Coffee Run; the next two days (October 5 & 6) will feature an Advanced DE Event at Watkins Glen followed by an AutoX on the 10th, two Coffee Runs – one on the 24th and another on the 1st of November – and the final DE event of the year at LRP on November 7th. Good stuff.
In this issue:
Leading off our October Challenge is View from the Valley. In addition to a brief Message from the President, Phil announces of the slate of nominees for the Club’s Board for the upcoming 2021-2022 term. Voting will be via web/teleconference on November 10th at 7 pm. Details will be provided as we get closer.
Next up, two on-track and two on-street articles. Paul Kudra announces the Club’s new “drive-thru” AutoX training. Drive-thru training? Yes, and it’s kind of amazing. Read more about it here. Dave Vaccaro has an article about September’s DE Event at LRP which features some great photos from Paul Roth. Be sure to check the pictures out. Tourmeister Maria Capella has an article about the last of this year’s touring events and James Ball has an article on the Westchester Loop Coffee Run from mid-September. We had 35 Porsches (and 1 four-legged passenger) for that Coffee Run held on a glorious late summer morning.
This month’s feature article about the postponed-until-September 24 Hours of Le Mans is from Walt Hyjek. The race looked to be a lot of fun despite all the COVID-19 precautions and Porsche’s out of the money finish. There’s always next time.
And finally, late fall through early spring is a special time reserved for working on your current P-Car project. Sometimes those parts you’re looking for can be a little scarce. To help with your search, we have an article on how to search every Craigslist ad in every city at the same time. That kind of search comes in handy when you’re on a quest for those “rarest of the rare” parts and cars. Intrigued? Click here.
