Columns Editor's Notes

Is it 2021 yet? Please?

I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch for me to say that 2020 has been an interesting year. We had a fairly typical planning meeting early on, two monthly membership meetings, and then BAM – nature grabbed a tire wrench and whacked us over our collective heads. Such is life.

This month’s Challenge starts out with an update from Phil Capella on 2020’s Annual Meeting. Make sure to grab a cocktail and join us via Zoom on November 10th at 7pm. Check your email for the RSVP link.

Also this month is Dave Vaccaro’s DE column The CVR DE Season is Almost a Wrap. While we lost a few events in the early part of the year, we were able to add some other dates in June and ended up having a very successful DE season. The same is true of AutoX which Paul Kudra does his usual excellent job of covering in his RE Now Means Road Scholar column. And while we didn’t get the opportunity to outdo the number of cars that participated in last year’s Concours event, we did get to have one. Read Mike Keller’s article 2020 Concours D’istance for details.

Rounding out this issue are two feature articles – one from regular Challenge contributor Walt Hyjek entitled 911 RSR Wins Petit Le Mans and another from Roger Garbow on the track day tribute to Spencer Cox at Monticello Motor Club (A Special Day Remembering A Special Friend) held this past Tuesday.

Stay safe.
