No, this month’s column is not about playing golf. As difficult as golf is (for some of us), it’s still a social game: foursomes, friendly wagers, the 19th Hole. The links that I’m referring to are social links of FaceBook, Instagram, and Twitter. It’s about clicking on a website or social media site that contains something that you want to: 1) learn more about; 2) wished you could do; 3) plan to do when you can travel freely travel again, or 4) escape from reality.
In this month’s column, I’m going to include several links that I discovered within the articles of Panorama and other Porsche-related publications where all you have to do is simply click on the link.
Attending the annual Pikes Peak Hill Climb has been on my bucket list for years. The November 2020 issue of Panorama contained an excellent article about the abbreviated 2020 event. It featured three Attack Class Porsches, one of which was a 935/19 driven by Jeff Zwart. Under one of the photo captions, there was a link to a video of Jeff’s run. Did you notice it? Did you click on that link? I did and it was terrific. The sound of that 935 and the video encouraged me to begin planning for attending the 2022 event.
From that link, I found additional links of the 935’s run. I must have spent half an hour enjoying the Hill Climb from the comfort of my home.
You’ll find many more links in Panorama, eBrake News, and scores of other Porsche-related events and activities on CVR’s FaceBook and Instagram accounts to keep you engaged and up-to-date. Check out PCA’s YouTube channel.
Now, about engagement. When you comment on or “like” a post, you show others that you are more than just viewing it, you’re engaged in it. Other viewers might comment or reply to you. That’s the Social part of hitting the links. Try this link to Porsche enthusiast Jay Read (thanks to Mike Keller for finding it!).
A few months ago I happened upon a link on the PCA website entitled Perfourmance News. Turns out that it is a monthly column about four-door Porsches that began in September 2020. Who knew? I called PCA National and was put on distribution. Very recently, PCA sent an email to all of the Region’s Social Media Chairs asking us to promote Perfourmance News to our members. It reads as follows:
“PCA’s Perfourmance News monthly e-newsletter features the latest news and information about all four-door Porsches. Perfourmance News offered by PCA is geared for four-door Porsche owners and enthusiasts interested in the latest news articles and feature stories about Panamera, Taycan, Macan, and Cayenne vehicles.”
Here’s the link for your convenience. You can also find it on the CVR website under “News” in the banner.
So while I don’t play golf, I can help you to hit the social media links when it comes to our Porsche sport. Keep practicing your social media ‘swing’.
