SPRING FORWARD & LOSE AN HOUR OF SLEEP

Last month we turned our clocks forward in anticipation of spring.  Honestly, even the promise of warmer weather cannot make up for losing an hour of sleep (in my book at least). Strange to think that this may be the last year we observe daylight savings time.

Is it just me or does it seem like everything is changing faster than ever before?  The pandemic brought on a plethora of changes that many of us never anticipated – but this year, FINALLY, there seems to be a promise of return to normalcy.

A promising return to normalcy is exactly what Walt Hyjek noticed as he covered the 12 Hours of Sebring. In his feature this month, he sheds light on the race and the general atmosphere while also paying tribute to iconic Porsche driver, Vic Elford. Paul Kudra noted the same gradual return to the norm when he hosted the Hoffman Celebration after month of delays – read all about the festivities and the upcoming AutoX season in his article, Pizza Powered Porsches!

With a return to in-person events, we are well on our way to normality. The entire CVR board has been working diligently behind the scenes. President Allen Fossbender’s article showcases the people behind these efforts.

While the weather is finally warming up, I hope you are also gearing up for a full season of events. Have you seen the CVR calendar lately? Seriously, click here and take a look.  It is full of events you won’t want to miss. This month alone we have 8 in person events!

The first event is right around the corner on April 2nd: James Ball’s popular Bear Mountain Coffee Run kicks off this month’s activities – his article has all the details you’ll need.  The best part – you don’t even need to register! If you aren’t able to make the first coffee run, there are two more later this month (see calendar).  DE’s next event is on April 11th.  Dave Vaccaro’s article provides all the information you need to register and ensure your gear is up to date.

One of the highlights of this month is our Annual Club Race on April 22-23! With a return to in-person attendance, you’ll want to make sure you show your CVR pride. Good thing Joe Kunecki just stocked the shop with Club Race gear – new polos anyone?

And with the CVR calendar as full as it is, we will of course need photographers to capture all the excitement. Paul Roth is hosting a luncheon for old & new Photo Club participants on April 16th – for more details click here.

If this month is any indication of what is coming up for the rest of spring/summer/fall, I hope you get some rest and get ready for an exciting season ahead!

We may have lost an hour of sleep, but that just means we’ve gained an hour of drive time.
