August 2025 Driver Education

The CVR DE season is going to be over before we know it. We have been fortunate with great weather this summer – a little too hot, but the tires love it. It seems like we were just seeing each other after the long winter and here we are, with only a few events remaining for 2025.

CVR DE is coming off a great DE event at LRP on August 2nd, We had a full beginners group and a good car count with lots of smiling faces, as the weather was perfect for a track day. Thanks to Repasi Motorwerks for sponsoring the August DE shirt. The drivers were very happy to receive a souvenir from the event, and many were wearing their new shirt at the end of the day, after sweating in the one they had arrived in. This was the third year in a row that Jim Repasi sponsored the August DE shirt.

While the DE was going on, we also had our annual Porsches@TheRock on the Midway, with lots of families and friends sitting on the hill watching all of the cool DE cars on track. It’s not the norm for DE to have any large groups of spectators at our events, so it was something new for the drivers driving on track. If you were one of those spectators on that day watching the DE and wondering ‘Hey, I think I would love to try that’ but just aren’t sure of what steps you need to take to participate, just reach out to me or Mark (our Registrar) and we will walk you through every step of the way. It’s easy.

CVR still has two more events for the year at LRP: September 13th and October 4th. We also have an Advanced DE at Watkins Glen on September 22 & 23. The fall foliage should be beautiful.

There is still time to give DE a try and then dream all winter long of next year’s season. I hope to see new people at our DE along with all of our ‘regulars’. For the 2025 since, through August, we have welcomed more than 30 new drivers to the CVR DE program, and more than half of them did multiple events. It’s nice to see that our program is once again growing, after the slowdown due to Covid. You should join us.
