The Connecticut Valley Region (CVR) of The Porsche Club of America (PCA) was founded in 1959. We enjoy the comfort of good friends and good conversation, and we praise to a fault the world’s finest automobile. We race one another, show our prized cars, and conduct rallies, autocrosses and tours. “IT’S NOT JUST THE CARS, IT’S THE PEOPLE.”

I’ve always believed that my car is an extension of my personality and anyone who’s ever seen me with my Boxster tells me we were made for each other. I’m lucky enough to say my husband, Alex, bought me my 987.1 Boxster this year for a milestone birthday, and I’m still in disbelief that she’s actually mine.
My love of Porsche really started because of Alex. He owns a 996 Turbo, and on our very first date he took me out in it. I had no idea driving could feel like that. It wasn’t until I got behind the wheel of my own mid-engined beauty that I truly understood what “fun to drive” means. The way she handles corners is unlike anything else. Alex encouraged me to try AutoX “just once” to get to know the car better and sharpen my skills. Little did he know I’d fall completely in love with the sport.
I went to every AutoX event this year, even Zone 1, and I wouldn’t have progressed the way I have without people like Paul Kudra and my instructor, Brian Fournier. Their enthusiasm and passion made me want to keep coming back to every CVR event.
Just recently I have started learning how to work on my own car too. It’s become almost as rewarding as driving her.
I can’t wait to see what next season brings! Send it!

This week’s Featured Female Driver Friday is a familiar face behind the scenes, Sofia Felgate!
I’ve had the pleasure of running CVR PCA’s social media this season along side Brian Ruggiero, capturing events, stories, and the incredible people who make our region so special. From Track Days to Monthly Meetings, it’s been amazing to highlight the energy and community that defines CVR.
I wasn’t born into the motorsports world — I found my way into it. Growing up during COVID and moving between different high schools, the car community was the one place that always felt like home. I loved all the little things that made it unique — from the people and stories to the shared passion that brings everyone together.
I actually grew up with my Boxster. I used to be able to squeeze in the center console and make a makeshift seat. A family member gave it to me as a high school graduation gift — with a blown engine — and said, “If you can fix it, you can have it.” The car sat for a couple of years, but then with a lot of help from my partner, Bela, we found a motor and got it running this past March. We gave it a second life. Since then I’ve driven it over 10,000 miles.
I’m currently studying Business at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. While college keeps me busy, the car community has always been my constant.
This year, I competed in two Autocrosses, drove on the FCP Proving Grounds, and even took on the big track at Lime Rock Park — where I now intern with their Drivers Club. Each experience has deepened my love for driving and the people who make this community what it is.
I’m so thankful for CVR and everyone I’ve met along the way. I’m counting down the days until winter is over. I can’t wait to see you all at the track, autocross, monthly meetings, and everything in between
