Tech session and demo at Automobilia Auto Salon of West Haven
Our October monthly meeting usually finds us with long-time CVR supporter New Country Porsche in Greenwich but they are still in the process of doing a significant remodel of the dealership and could not host our meeting this year (don’t worry, they’ll be back next year). Fortunately for CVR, our friends at Automobilia Auto Salon of West Haven stepped up to save the day! We had already been talking to Automobilia about doing a tech session so it all just worked out perfectly.

It was a cool October evening as the CVRers convened at the Automobilia shop in West Haven but the skies were clear and the smell of delicious pizza was in the air. Automobilia is a fantastic independent shop that offers a host of services and products that would be of interest to all Porsche owners. Many CVR members have already become customers, myself included. The topic for our meeting on this brisk October evening was a technical discussion and related demo of their most popular product and service offerings but first, dinner!
Automobile brought in the fine folks from New Haven Pizza along with their pizza truck. Numerous pizzas of all varieties flowed out of the truck throughout the evening as the CVR attendees devoured the delicious pies. Salad, expresso, and even gelato was on the menu as the socialization moved into high gear. We also had the opportunity to check out the beautiful Automobilia shop as well as view a few of the vehicles that they had on display which highlighted some of the products that we would be learning about that evening.

With our appetites satisfied it was time to kick off the meeting. CVR president Dick Strahota introduced us to the new members in attendance, conducted the mart, and then reviewed the final activities on the CVR calendar for 2017. It certainly has been a fun and busy year. We then moved on to our presentation.

The Automobilia team, Sales Director Christian Mead, Sales Rep Alex Jones, and Owner Jeremy Cimmino were all on hand to tell us about the shop and give a brief tour on the products and services that they feature there. Three of those products were highlighted in the evening’s presentation. The staff at Automobilia is fully trained in the application of all of these products. First up was Matt Kelly from Ceramic Pro. Matt started out with a brief science lesson behind the product and then went into detail on how this coating-based product not only protects your vehicle’s finish but keeps it clean as well. Next up was Mariam Giorgakis from 3M who highlighted 3M’s windshield film protection product as well their Scotchgard paint protection film. The most amazing thing about these products is you can’t even see that they have been applied to the vehicle. Following the presentation and numerous questions and answers from the CVR team Christian and Alex proceeded to demo the products. Alex went to work on a black hood while Christian pummeled a windshield. Both demo pieces took their hits with no resulting damage while the CVRers looked on in amazement. Impressive.
With the presentation complete we closed our evening with the raffle. The prizes were donated by Automobilia and one lucky CVRer went home with a bag filled with goodies while others went home with gift cards. Thank you Automobilia for hosting our October meeting!
So, with the conclusion of the meeting that brings the 2017 monthly meeting programs to a close. We’ve had a number of great meetings this year, hosted by some great CVR supporters, with many fascinating speakers and topics. I hope you have enjoyed them and thank you for coming out. Have a great holiday season, stay warm, and we’ll see you in January 2018!
