Safety, the Prerequisite for Fun

Having fun requires safety first. As we figure out what the “new normal” is going to be, the Covid conundrum makes us re-examine all of our activities and events. While safety has always been the biggest focus in setting up and running an AutoX, up until now this was mostly about course design and having premeditated emergency preparedness.

In the new post-Covid world we will be adding new safety layers to comply with all Coronavirus guidelines as they evolve while still retaining the interactive camaraderie that CVR AutoX is known for. This will be the topic of CVR Board Meetings for the foreseeable future. Already we have been in discussions and seeking science-based input. Luckily we have a talented set of people and resources that can properly digest and implement whatever steps are needed.

Special fire bottles deserve special boxes with custom Hippy Car inspired font.

As an example of the safety focus we already had in place before Covid hit, I was proudly finishing a special enhancement for CVR AutoX events. As seen above, we now have new fire-extinguisher boxes for our high-tech Lifeline Zero 360 FIA 2kg Novec 1230 fire bottles. These state-of-the-art fire suppression systems are expensive and special, and deserving of the special care that new boxes offer while they are track-side all day at each flag station. To add an extra fun touch, I custom designed the numbers on each box to reflect the famous Porsche 917 Hippy Car font. Some Porsche trivia that I hope will bring smiles for years to come and remind us of safety each time we see them.

Hopefully, the first AutoX will still be held on May 16th and it will be part of our road to recovery as a society. With all-new requisite safety steps in place, AutoX will make sure your day can focus on having a great time and on Better Driving…Faster!

Nice to know we have state-of-the-art protection.
