Welcome to the June 1st issue of Challenge. It’s hard to believe we are starting the 6th month of 2020, and we are only now writing about driving events. Upcoming driving events at that.
Speaking of upcoming driving events, please make sure you read Dave Vaccaro’s Drivers Education column this month which lays out when the season is going to start and what it’s going to look like. There are some new policies and procedures that we are all going to have to contend with – at least in the immediate future. Sadly, those of us who are still instructed drivers (including myself) will not be able to participate in some of the upcoming events at LRP. Luckily, Shelley has put together another one of his amazing CVR Entertainment Guides for those of us who won’t be driving any time soon.
Also in this issue, Paul Kudra’s Autocross column begins with his fond remembrance of the day he met Sir Stirling Moss and then dives into some of the work he’s done with PCA National on establishing new national autocross safety guidelines. Alex Lendvai recaps the Club’s last in-person monthly meeting in March at Automobile Associates of Canton and finally, Paul Roth is putting out a request for your P-car photos for use in Challenge and on social media.
Shifting gears for a minute, have you ever wondered what the most popular Porsche model is among CVR members? I have, and I’ve been collecting some information. From the data I have – which admittedly isn’t 100% complete – if you live in Fairfield and Litchfield County, it would be some variant of 911 (56%). That’s followed by Cayennes (12%) and Boxsters (8%). Surprisingly, 2.5% of CVR members own some variant of a 356.

The Board is meeting on June 1st, to talk about events throughout the rest of the summer. Don’t forget to check out the next issue of Challenge for some additional information on all of our track events as well as updates about Rally, Concour, and Coffee Runs.
