SIM Racing – Porsche 1st WIN!

With the COVID-19 shutting everything down or on hold, SIM Racing (Virtual Racing on your computer) is one of the sports you can still watch live. If you have not been watching it, the graphics are amazing.  The details of the track with cracks, patches, and detail of pits and cars are great.  The racing is also interesting. You can see it on YouTube every other Thursday.  VIR was on May 28th at 6:00 PM.  You can also go onto the IMSA official web site and get onto the SIM racing from their site.

SIM Racing has become a staple over the years for teams to use, to stay familiar with tracks they are going to race on.  Nick Tandy started in 2014 when he became a Porsche Works Driver and was scheduled to race in the IMSA series but was not familiar with many of the tracks. Many of the Porsche drivers not only race in the United States with IMSA, but also with World Endurance Challenge (WEC) that races all around the world at different tracks.

“I’ve found pedals are very important for good performance,” Nick Tandy said.  He has been doing this for years and finds it just as hard as driving the real car since you have to concentrate just as much.  He just won the IMSA iRacing Pro Series at Road Atlanta, with help from Porsche and the e-racing team.   BMW won the first three races.

Nick had said, “Sometimes I might go on it every day for a couple of weeks, sometimes I might not use it for months”.  But, he noted that practice is necessary, like everything, to get better at something.  So get practicing!
