July has been a busy month. Quick on the heels of our last event, Rally offered a repeat version of last year’s Ice Cream Social Distancing Rally.
The event was a virtual, free, self-service event where Rally teams drove a predefined route between ice cream shoppes. These ice cream shoppes served as our virtual “selfie” checkpoints where Rally teams sent in selfies to gain points for each checkpoint. Along the way, participants were asked to identify photos and answer questions about the surrounding area. This event ran from July 1 to July 11 so teams could run the event on the day and time of their choosing. This proved to be a popular format again this year.
As with last year’s ICSD Rally, we had a high number of teams register. We had roughly 20 teams this year and the scoring was very competitive. This event was simply for fun and did not count towards the annual Rallyists of the Year award. Below are the scores for the top 10 teams:

Only a few points separated the teams. Top marks to Mike and Marie Hopkins for achieving a perfect score! Thank you to everyone that participated in this fun summertime event.
Our Final Rally as Rally Chairs
The Fall Rally is rapidly approaching. We have already started the initial planning for this event and before long, registration will be opening. Here are some of the details we know at this time. The event will take place in the area of Farmington, Glastonbury and Avon. We are still ironing out the starting and ending locations but the event will be our normal Gimmick format. The event will have 1-2 sections with photo identification and 1-2 sections of gimmicked instructions where participants attempt to follow the correct route.
Mark your calendars for Sunday September 12. Registration will open on August 14. You can register for the Fall Rally on Motorsportreg.com at the following link:
Once we have more information on the Fall Rally we will share with everyone. We hope to see you all at the Fall Rally for our final event before Christine and I retire from our roles as Rally Chairs!
