Here we are at the conclusion of another CVR driving tour season. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the eighteen great Coffee Runs put on by the Coffee Run team, Rich Adua, James Ball, John Collins, Mark Mahoney and Steve Tougias. Their efforts gave our CVR members the opportunity to enjoy their Porsches on some of the fantastic roads we have in our region and socialize with each other.
Here is a recap of the first Coffee Run put on by Mark Mahoney.
Rural Fairfield/Litchfield County Roads

8:00 am: While the weather was grey and overcast, it did nothing to diminish the spirits of the large contingent of CVR members that were in attendance for this Coffee Run. 25 cars were present and provided a colorful accent to the autumn day. Boxsters, Caymans, 944s, and many variants of the 911 could be seen in the starting parking lot in Newtown, CT.
Allen Fossbender, our CVR president, showed up to see us off and thank the organizers.
He was driving a stunning Guards Red 911/992 manual Targa that complemented the many other Guards Reds in the lot.
Also in attendance was local YouTuber Jay Read. Check out Jay’s channel for lots of 996 love and great general Porsche content.
Once underway the club was treated to 80 miles of remote twisting back roads that were new to most of the members. Memorable quotes from the day included:
- “How did you ever find these roads?”
- “I never knew roads like this existed in CT”
- “We have to do this drive again”
- “It will be hard to top this route”
With such an enthusiastic response I’m pleased to say that this was the first annual “Rural Fairfield/Litchfield County Roads” drive. In fact, it was suggested over lunch afterward, that this organizer/author organize a second new run for the club. Which I think is a good idea! It was inspirational seeing folks have such a good time.
A special thanks to James Ball for assisting and overseeing this new Coffee Run and providing the photos.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to start studying Google Maps and working on the requested new route 😉
Regards,
Mark Mahoney

I would like to wish everyone the best for the remainder of the year and a happy holiday season.
Safe travels,
Maria
