Columns Editor's Notes

A Year in Review

December 2022 marks the end of my first year as Challenge, Editor-in-Chief. This year, we have published over 140 unique articles & galleries!  Though transitioning from print to a digital format took a bit of effort, our contributors quickly learned to navigate the digital system.  I want to commend the continuous efforts of our contributors for learning the new system and creating unique content each month for our members.

Originally in print, our past Editor-in-Chiefs, Shelley and Paul Kudra, helped ensure that Challenge would become more than a newsletter.  They developed it into a robust compilation of articles, stories, event recaps and stunning visuals.  Now in digital form, our contributors have helped ensure that legacy.  Through their efforts, we are able to deliver a fresh and full offering each month.  A heartfelt thank you to each of them!

I would also like to shine a spotlight on our Challenge Staff.  Every month, each of these individuals work behind the scenes to ensure Challenge is delivered on time.  Susan Vaccaro serves as Assistant Editor, reviewing all our content and ensuring our articles are free of grammatical and spelling errors – a true expert at her craft.  Mike Appel manages Challenge Advertising, communicating with our sponsors throughout the year and keeping the ads you see on our website in order. Shelley (also serving as CVR’s 2023 President), creates the art assets used within the publication, as well as, our annual Challenge Calendar.  Thank you to the team for all your help this year!

Also, a big thank you to our readers!  This year the number of members who have read the Challenge each month has steadily grown.  I want to thank each of you for your encouragement and readership.  I encourage you to consider contributing in the future – simply reach out if you would like to discuss how you can participate.

As January tends to be a quiet time for CVR, there will not be a January issue of Challenge.  However, we will be returning with updates and new articles in February of 2023.  In the interim, check your mail for the annual CVR/Challenge Calendar (sneak peek below).

I hope you have a lovely holiday season and a Happy New Year!  See you in 2023!
