Volunteers needed, plus participating in a Coffee Run

If you have participated in any of the (more than 50) events that CVR provides every year, you no doubt understand what it takes to organize a successful event. If you have not already volunteered to help with some of these events, I hope you will consider upgrading your “member subscription” by volunteering. We live in challenging times, and all have busy lives, but I hope you will give volunteering a try sooner rather than later. This is your club and we can use your help. We are happy to have you here as a member either way.

I am pleased to report that our upcoming Fall Tour to Freeport, Maine in September is completely sold out. Many thanks to Karen and Tom Russell for their conscientious work in pulling this event together. The Russell’s are famous for their member acclaimed well-organized tours and we are happy to be able to bring this long-awaited activity back after the Covid-induced multi-year hiatus. If you were not lucky enough to be able to register for this event, don’t fret as we have many other driving-centric events available in the coming year.

For those of you who have not yet participated in one, Coffee Runs are an easy way of getting your feet wet in club activities. They are typically a half day event, either Saturday or Sunday morning. There is a driver meeting where instructions are provided and any last-minute changes in the course are discussed. Participants drive as a group on scenic country roads at legal speed limits. At the end of each run, members typically enjoy coffee or lunch together; a great way to meet like-minded Porsche enthusiasts.

Coffee Runs are held in Connecticut, New York and just across the border in Massachusetts. At last count there were 19 Coffee Runs scheduled for the upcoming season. Our RidewithGPS App (generously provided by Hagerty) makes it easy to download the route directions to your phone. I’ve always considered our Coffee Runs the first step into the greater world of the Connecticut Valley Region of the Porsche Club of America. I hope that you will try and find the time to experience one of them.

I look forward to meeting you at an event soon.

CORRECTION

I’m sorry to say that one of our sharp-eyed CVR members pointed out a fairly serious mistake in the 2023 Calendar that I put together for the club.

The dates on the month of August are wrong. Since it would be far too costly to re-print and mail I have included a one page PDF “patch” for the month of August with this article. This can be printed out at full size on your home printer and affixed to the calendar with tape or staples.

August Calendar patch instructions: Click the link below to view and download the patch
