The Rev’s Institute; the 2026 Lake Placid Porsche Parade with the “Sideways Moose”; and the 2026 CVR AutoX Schedule. That’s a lot to cover, so let’s dive right in.

The Rev’s Institute in Naples, Florida, says it’s dedicated to the study and preservation of historically significant automobiles. I say it’s a slice of Porsche heaven with a bunch of other cool cars sprinkled in. About three weeks ago, on a 75-degree evening just before the cold snap hit Florida, I got to visit it with the Porsche Club National Staff. My snapshots speak to just how special it was. Let’s just say that next time you are anywhere close to southwest Florida, you owe it to yourself to visit the Institute. Many people in the know place it at, or very near, the top of the list of any car museum in the world.

Porsche Parade returns to Lake Placid, NY this June, 32 years after its previous visit. 1994 saw the Regions of Zone1 all come together and create one of the most memorable Porsche Parades ever, “Camp Lake Placid”. The 2026 sequel is shaping up to repeat that distinction. Those who know already registered for PCA’s premiere event as soon as it opened up (Jan 28th), but if you haven’t yet, let me share some thoughts to help you decide if the 4.5-hour drive to the Adirondacks is right for you.
Don’t go if you are thinking, “I only want to go to check it out.” To go for just a day, or one event, is to miss the whole point of the week-long immersion into ALL aspects of PCA. It’s the overdose of Porsches that makes the week so special. Everything Porsche, everywhere you turn, surrounded by Porsches and Porsche enthusiasts. It’s the chance to try events that you have never tried before, in a location that is truly magical and made for our favorite brand.

Do go if you have never tried a Porsche Parade before, or are very selective about the ones you attend. It doesn’t get any closer than this, or arguably any better. It’s truly a rare opportunity. While “perfect weather” can’t be guaranteed, I like the odds of upstate NY in mid-June much better than what the last three Parades have offered, which were held in southern states at the height of the summer heat, where 96-degrees was considered a godsend after predictions of 114F! Even locals in those locations don’t venture out until fall for their PCA season to start.

Do go if you’d like the unique opportunity to dine at the very same spot where the “Miracle on Ice” Olympic hockey game occurred. Or if you’d like to bask in the ambiance of 150 concourse-prepped Porsches on the outdoor 400m Olympic Speed Skating Oval. Or if you’d like to enjoy the awesome twisty roads on a tour to the top of famed Whiteface Mountain in a string of Porsches, rather than the minivans that usually clog the way if you went outside of Parade week. Or if you’d enjoy the utopian visual appeal of endless Porsches taking over almost the entire small town of Lake Placid. Or if you’d like to sneak in some beautiful hikes, paddling on Mirror Lake, or relaxing on the public beach on Mirror Lake, while you absorb the magnitude and splendor of it all.

Do go if you are a CVR AutoXer, as you will feel right “at home” with the “Sideways Moose” course. Take a look for yourself at this exclusive sneak peek for CVR members before it’s released to all of PCA in the coming weeks. While Plattsburgh is an hour from Lake Placid, it will feel much shorter because of the wonderfully twisty mountain roads that lead you there. The super-smooth pavement of the new Plattsburgh International Airport (PBG) parking lot will feel like a CVR’s Lime Rock AutoX, but twice the size. Having unfettered use of the way-underutilized new Terminal building adjacent to the lot assures great food, restrooms, and a sanctuary for your half-day of driving. The first half of Stock Classes will run on Wednesday morning, the remaining half that afternoon, and all Production/Improved/and Modified classes on Thursday morning. That leaves you plenty of time to enjoy other Parade activities, and leaves Thursday afternoon open for the Porsche Cars North American Cup. That’s the PCA version of our famed Hoffman Cup Run-Off event, where each combined open and women’s class winner gets an invite to drive three different new Porsche models! Combining all three of those runs determines who will be crowned PCA’s 2026 AutoX Champion! If you do well at CVR AutoX events, you should do well at the Sideways Moose!

If you are thinking of going just for the AutoX, please re-read the third paragraph above again. Even though the Parade AutoX should be really fun, memorable, and special in its own right, it would be a shame to miss the other spectacular aspects of the Parade.

Planning out your 2026 calendar? Here are some cornerstone events for your list. Notice that the first three events will be on Sundays, like we used to do, including July 5th to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with our own form of “fireworks”! You’ll also notice dates for the “Zone1” AutoX have been confirmed, so join CVR as we once again plan to dominate the event and set ourselves apart with another unique CVR shirt that will be hard to miss! As usual, our Hartford dates can’t be confirmed until the Hartford concert dates are confirmed, around March. They carefully avoid all known conflicts (Yard Goat home games, Regatta, etc.) so I’m optimistic they will be unaltered.
