February 2018 Monthly Meeting

Wagon extremes at Danbury Porsche

Although Danbury Porsche has been a continued sponsor of many CVR annual events it had been four long years since we have had them on our monthly meeting roster so we were excited to welcome them back for the 2018 calendar year. Our February monthly meeting convened at the beautiful new Audi service center just down the road from their dealership and they had everything ready for us as we were expecting a full house. The weather was great so the CVRers arrived right on time to enjoy a delicious dinner provided by the folks at Danbury. With such a full crowd present socialization was in full swing when we brought the meeting to order.

Chris Partelow, Danbury Porsche General Manager

First up was to introduce our generous host, Danbury Porsche general manager Chris Partelow. Chris introduced his team at Danbury and then went on to whet our appetite for a new Porsche with a review of the upcoming new models. Porsche certainly is keeping busy bringing exciting new models with amazing technology and performance to market.

With Dick and Allen out of state Phil Cappela stepped up to handle the CVR business agenda review. The upcoming CVR calendar is packed with activities to enjoy your Porsche. All we need is the nice weather and that will be here soon enough so it is time to start planning. Next up, DE activity chair Dave Vaccaro brought along Ryan McIntosh and Mike Distefano from Lime Rock Park to highlight some of their upcoming activities. Ryan talked about how LRP is making an effort to grow new fans of the park and offered a generous ticket offer to the membership so you can bring someone new to an LRP event.

We then moved on to the star attraction for the evening. Front and center was a brand new 2018 Porsche Sport Turismo that was on hand for the membership to inspect. It had been a challenge to get this brand new model to make the event but Chris was able to pull it off and boy was she a beauty. Bathed in an amazing Burgundy Red metallic finish this “wagon” was unlike any wagon you had ever seen before. I was particularly impressed by the look of the rear “C-pillar” design of the car. Very nice. Along with the Sport Turismo Chris had invited Tom Misciagna from Porsche Cars of North America. Tom gave the membership the lowdown on the features and options of the car including some amazingly powerful powertrain options resulting in stunning performance. With a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds, piling the family into the “wagon” for a trip to Grandma’s house will certainly be a quick experience. Loaded with amazing technology and slightly more utility then the Panamera sedan I’m sure the Sport Turismo will be yet another hit for PCNA. Tom took a few questions from the audience and then we moved on to our raffle with a number of door prizes donated by Danbury Porsche. We then concluded the evening event and said our goodbyes.

Special thanks again to Chris, Tom, and the crew at Danbury Porsche for a very enjoyable evening.

Next month you’ll find our March meeting hosted by our friends at Automobile Associates of Canton. Please be sure to register by the RSVP date using the constant contact invitation which you’ll be receiving shortly.

Thanks, your CVR programs crew.
