After a month of relative inactivity in December, I enjoy interacting with board members and developing goals for the year with them. The goals are a collective vision of activities and events that will engage you and enrich club traditions of camaraderie, safety and enjoyment of Porsches.
Presidents Message
CVR AS A SOURCE OF KINDNESS AND GOODWILL
CVR evokes mainly the images of beautiful Porsches; however, it also evokes the kindness and goodwill of many of its members.
THANK YOU, DEPARTING CLUB LEADERS
Exceptional leaders have honored CVR over the years with their dedication, competence and goodwill. When they depart, it is always difficult to say good-bye.
LINDA GOODMAN & ERIC GROSSMAN: FRANK CARRINGTON AWARD
Drum roll please: CVR is proud to announce that the winners of the 2021 Frank Carrington Award are…
Chef Boyardee and the Coronavirus
What occurred that Saturday more than sixty years ago is prominent in the annals of our family. Depending on the teller, there are at least three versions of what became known as the “melee.” I am sharing my version, which is the most accurate.
Leadership Opportunities; Succession
Approximately seventy CVR events take place annually for the entertainment of club members. Volunteers lead every event. They dedicate a great deal of time to planning and then hosting related activities. In any year, there is usually some turnover in event leaders. This year is no exception
Prescott Kelly: A Person For All Seasons
Prescott Kelly is a person for all seasons. His contributions to CVR are legendary. His eminence is well deserved.
REMINISCENCE: MY FATHER AND CARS
Father’s Day is a poignant reminder of my father’s love for his sons and his interest in cars. Many years of missing him have burnished my admiration for his patience and his kindness.
CVR Club Race: Exemplary Teamwork
Volunteers and sponsors contributed significantly to the exceptional success of the 2021 CVR Club Race. The race represented well Porsche’s heritage of mechanical excellence and driver competence.
Helping the Neediest Among Us
The first-ever CVR Regionwide Food Drive was a success. Impressive goodwill and brilliant sunshine were in abundance on March 13. I thank the club members who generously donated food, which will provide sustenance to many families suffering hunger or struggling with food insecurity.
Please Help the Neediest Among Us
The CVR Regionwide Food Drive, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For many years, CVR motto has been, “It’s not just the cars, it’s the people.” Please enliven the motto by donating food.
Goals for 2021: Return to Normalcy
The primary goals for the year are a return to normalcy, revitalization of social media, and a new website. Other primary goals are a first-ever region-wide food drive and a membership campaign.
Better Year Coming
A return to normalcy will be a welcome respite. Our car club is arguably not essential to our lives; however, its activities are diversions from the many responsibilities and pressures that monopolize our attention and time.
