Between the Lines – July 1 2021

Welcome to the July edition of Challenge

This month in Challenge: Allen Fossbender devotes his President’s Message to retiring club historian Prescott Kelly. It’s a lengthy piece detailing Prescott’s long association with Porsche, CVR and motorsports in general. Dave Vaccaro writes about CVR DE’s recent return to Watkins Glen, Paul Kudra provides another of his incredible AutoX how to do it right articles, and Tourmeister Maria Capella gives us an update on Coffee Runs for the rest of the year. Not to be left out, shopkeeper Joe Kunecki talks about the latest swag in the CVR store and Photo Club Chair Paul Roth talks photography. And finally, there’s another installment in Jeff Coe’s series on his Matador project.

On a personal note, I’d like to thank those CVR members who showed up at the first annual Connecticut Colonial Concours d’ Elegance this past Father’s Day. It was a brutally hot day, and despite the heat and a shortage of volunteers, the nearly 4,000 people who attended appeared to have a good time. Special shout out to Lisa Parker and Shelley Krohnengold for manning the new CVR tent and the membership drive efforts, and to Allen Fossbender for managing the parking in the CVR corral.

And for anyone who’s been wondering about the website problems, you’ll want to read Cars aren’t the only things that crash.
