Monthly Meeting Wrap Up – Oct 2021

October saw the completion of our 2021 virtual meeting series with a visit to Automobilia salon in West Haven, CT. It was a terrible night for the weather and I had to cringe when thinking of the logistics associated with actually holding an in-person meeting when the weather turns ugly like it was. As it was, I was the sole CVR member actually traveling to West Haven to see our friends Christian Mead and Alex Jones at Automobilia and I made the trip without incident. Once inside the shop it was cozy as the lights shined brightly and everything was dry. If not for the sound of the hard rain on the roof you would have never known about the storm going on outside.

Christian and Alex had everything set up for a couple of demos and a discussion about the latest automotive protection product offerings at Automobilia. All is good at the shop and they are plenty busy, which is great. The first big news was with Alex. He was very excited to share with us the news that he would be “officially” joining PCA/CVR with the purchase of his 2014 911 Turbo S. He actually had the car on hand and did an Xpel install on the fender, for us to watch. We saw the detail that goes into the install and the undetectable end result. Christian and Alex talked about recent improvements to the Xpel product, installation, and maintenance.

Then we moved on to a handsome red 911 for a demo of a new Xpel product, paint protection in black! Now don’t confuse this with a black vinyl wrap. This is the same Xpel product with all the benefits but happens to be black. Alex and Christian went to work installing the new product on the hood of the red 911, with a striking result. The finish was amazing. The fluorescent lights show everything at the shop and looking into the hood you would have sworn it was black paint. Impressive.

The guys took some questions and then we wrapped up our evening. Thanks so much, Alex and Christian for hosting our October virtual meeting.

With the bad weather continuing outside I took solace in knowing that the commute home for the CVRers in virtual attendance only amounted to a walk to a different room in their homes.  There are benefits to virtual meetings and one of those is not having to deal with the weather.

So that’s a wrap for virtual 2021. We are already working on our kickoff meeting for 2022 which is planned to be “in-person” so watch your email inbox in January. Meanwhile, enjoy the holidays with your family and we’ll look forward to seeing you soon!
