It turns out that holding an AutoX on Mother’s Day was a welcome break for some moms across CVR-land, as the attendance was as high as ever. By coincidence, those that joined the first AutoX of the season learned how to use their brakes better than ever! The course, AutoX-U lesson, and CVR AutoX Instructors all conspired to make the lesson “stick”, or as I can attest, “slide” a bit.

Inspired by the upcoming Lake Placid Parade AutoX course, our CVR course had many similar elements. Although the smoother Plattsburgh asphalt will no doubt improve the grip, our CVR event was a great proof-of-concept for the flow and fun it should offer. The quick flow also allowed us each to get a recent record of seven runs in for the day, 340 runs in total, and we still beat the approaching rain.

New AutoX Trophy Towels, with the 906 Porsche artwork presented to Porsche Hartford last fall, made for a nice addition to anyone’s collection. Now new red, yellow, white, and green tote bags, each with the 906 art, replace the usual colored AutoX ribbons for 2nd-5th places. I think some people may actually try to slow down this season to collect one of each color!

As CVR AutoX keeps attracting a steady stream of new-to-AutoX drivers, we want to give a warm welcome to the seven first timers. All had big smiles throughout the day. Of special note, Porsche Hartford Service Manager Matt Pikul seems like he’s now hooked on AutoX, discovering just how cool his personal Boxster is. It shows how big his enthusiasm and skills are that he also wrenches on his own car and was so excited that he brought his family with him to share his first AutoX. Speaking of wrenching, Porsche Hartford Tech Carlos Silva also joined us with his 911. Like Matt, Carlos steadily improved his times run after run, and as they did they discovered how addictive AutoX is.

If you hurry, you can go to the CVR AutoX web page (AutoX – Connecticut Valley Region PCA ) and still sign up for the June 7th event before it closes on the Wednesday before. A new course will be designed to complement the new AutoX-U lesson and is sure to make lots of new smiles.
