Black Horse Garage
A warm spring evening in May found the CVRers heading to Bridgeport for our May monthly meeting held at Black Horse Garage. We had returned to Black Horse last year for a monthly meeting after a hiatus of a few years, so it was great to see them invite CVR back for an update on their current happenings. Fellow CVR member Tom Truitt, Operations manager at BHG, was excited to welcome the CVRers.

These 2 pics are the same.
Recall that Black Horse garage is located on Union Ave in Bridgeport, one building down from their old location. The CVRers started the meeting by parking a number of member Porsches in the BHG courtyard. It made for quite a welcome display for members who arrived a little later.
After reviewing the assembled Porsche display, the CVRers wandered into the building and upstairs to the Foolproof Brewery. Foolproof is a joint venture with BHG and the location is simply stunning.

A good-sized group of CVRers had come out for the event and assembled in the room with conversations taking place while also taking in the fantastic surroundings. Before you knew it, it was time for dinner. Foolproof Brewing Company has a kitchen as well, and brought out a fantastic spread. The CVRers very much enjoyed the excellent food.

The CVR business meeting was up next. Our meeting MCs for the evening were Shelley Krohnengold and Allen Fossbender, who welcomed the CVRers to the meeting. After saying hello to a few new members who were attending their first meeting and then covering “the Mart” we brought up the board members that were in attendance. Looking at the CVR calendar, you can see the number of activities that are fast approaching. It will be a busy summer.

With dinner and the CVR business meeting behind us, we started to assemble groups to tour the facility. Tom took a few of the groups around to see the updated facility. BHG offers numerous services for the automotive enthusiast including vehicle storage, consignment, detailing, and on-sight restoration work. Members returned from the tours impressed with the facility including BHG’s current inventory.

A CVR monthly meeting ‘first’ was the onsite T-shirt maker who printed up t-shirts for the members right on the spot with their favorite selected Porsche design. Wow! We then concluded the meeting with generous door prizes donated by Tom and the BHG team. We wished everyone a safe drive home and a few of CVRers remained and headed over to the bar for a beer from the great selection offered by Foolproof Brewery.

As always, please CVRers, be sure to patronize our sponsors. If you have a need for storage, consignment, or restoration services, be sure to give Black Horse Garage a call and see what they can do for you. And if you visit BHG, be sure to tell them you are from CVR and that you heard about them at a monthly meeting. And don’t forget the Foolproof Brewery. Such an impressive facility! For updates on happenings at both locations, find them on Instagram.
Thanks, Jeff Coe, CVR Programs
