Welcome to the March 1st edition of Challenge magazine. Hopefully (by now) you have all installed the Challenge app on your smartphones and you’re not only enjoying some great content, but also a great user experience. If you haven’t installed the app yet, what are you waiting for? You can find the instructions here.
Besides the Challenge app there are other things happening. In January we welcomed Michael Amici on to Challenge’s Editorial team. Michael has been doing a great job proofing the content before it goes live and has made all of us sound better than we are. The most recent addition to the Challenge staff is Caroline Abba who has come on board as our advertising manager. Please join me in welcoming them to CVR and the Challenge team. We are still looking for an email blast coordinator and a graphics designer so if you like to get involved, please don’t be shy about stepping forward.
Also this month, Christine and Tim Beckwith talk about the 2020 Rally season and the upcoming Rally Academy. In a change from 2019, the 2020 Rally Academy will be held in the spring so that Academy attendees can participate in the year’s events and compete for the coveted Rallyists of the Year award.
You might also notice that there is a new monthly column in Challenge. Joe Kunecki, who is Club Secretary and the proprietor of the CVR store, is writing a column called Notes from the Shopkeeper. Every month Joe will be featuring one item in the CVR Store Product Profile. This month, it’s an Eddie Bauer Embroidered Full-Zip Microfleece Jacket. Just the thing for those spring HPDE events, AutoX and Coffee Runs. He’ll also be introducing some limited-edition offerings supporting Club Race.
And speaking of Club Race, April 24th and 25th are almost here. (OK, we still have to get through March, but we’re closer now than we were 2 months ago.) Please read Maria Cappella’s article on the upcoming Club Race weekend and consider volunteering for one of the open positions. You’ll end up having a great time, seeing some really good drivers, and walk away with some exclusive and very cool swag.
Finally, this month’s Feature Article comes from Walt Hyjek. It’s entitled Porsche History Restart and in it, Walt talks about Porsche’s new its new race car and its team of drivers including Fredric Makowicki, Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber. Don’t forget to check it out.
