CVR Driver Education is back on for September 12, 2020 at Lime Rock Park

When the CVR DE calendar was posted back in January, we had a DE scheduled for September 12th at Lime Rock Park.

IMSA took the date from us as they rescheduled their calendar to make up their COVID-cancelled races.  Then IMSA had to change their schedule again, due to the travel restrictions imposed in the northeast during the pandemic.

Here’s the good news: our Saturday, September 12th DE at LRP is now back on for Solo drivers.  Registration is open on ClubRegistration.net.   E-waivers are still part of the registration process.  Register and then go to your Dashboard to click on the link for the PCA e-waiver. Every registered driver will receive a free CVR event t-shirt from our sponsor Accurate Automotive Equipment.

We will continue to follow all of the safety guidelines: 6’ social distancing, wearing a mask, contactless registration and limiting attendance to only those drivers that are registered.

At lunchtime, during the Sept 12th event, we are giving 15 mins of track time to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).   This is their 8th year doing a rally from Hartford to Lime Rock and our first year that their rally fell on our DE date.

They will stage up top at Lime Rock and enter the track from West Bend. While their group won’t be mixed with our group – everyone wants to stay safe – we wish them the best of luck with their fundraiser.   If you are interested in learning more about their ‘Rallye For a Cure’, go to rallyeforacure.org.

We know that some CVR members like to come out and watch the DE cars on track, but for now, the events are run as ‘no guests, visitors or spectators’.   The health and safety of our drivers is our number one priority.  By limiting the attendance to just drivers, we have the signed Covid-waiver from every person at the event (for contact tracing), everyone hears the safety rules before the event starts and the event organizers don’t have to worry about policing the paddock, asking people to follow the rules. Additionally, we won’t have extra people using the bathrooms (which are already set up for less than 50% capacity) and the food concession area (limited seating).

For all of our Solo drivers that thought they only had November 7th at Lime Rock remaining on the DE calendar for 2020, you now have both September 12 AND November 7, as well as Oct 5-6 at Watkins Glen.   We hope that you can join us for both LRP events and the WGI event.   We still need your continued support so that we can schedule dates for 2021 – hopefully events that will be for all rungroup drivers and guests that want to come to watch us drive.

Stay safe.

Dave
