The 2021 DE season starts on track on April 12th

CVR’s first on-track DE event for 2021 will be held on April 12th at Lime Rock Park.  Since we are still dealing with COVID-19, this event will be for Solo drivers only, without family, guests or spectators.   Masks and social distancing will be enforced.

HELMET UPDATE: On March 29, 2021, PCA sent out a memo on helmets:

COVID related supply chain disruptions have limited availability of Snell 2020 Rated helmets. PCA does not want to force members to compromise on such an important piece of safety equipment. We have therefore decided to continue allowing 2010 helmets through the end of 2021. As supplies improve, we do encourage those of you with 2010 helmets to replace them without waiting for the hard cutoff at the beginning of 2022.

2020 helmets are available, but in limited supply. If you have helmet preferences, please prepare for the changeover and start shopping for that new helmet.

Make sure you have a current SA helmet and that it fits your head

We are hoping to have students at our events, starting with our July event.  Most people should be vaccinated by that point, making it safer for us to have 2 people together in a car.   We will follow all CDC and state guidelines.   We have also put together a short list of safety measures, including wearing a mask inside your helmet (no loaner helmets) and having students bring their own headsets (this will eliminate the need for instructors having to handle and clean someone else’s equipment).

Our 2021 DE team is made up of the same people who made up our team in 2020:

Assistant Track Chair:  Todd Pajonas
DE Registrar:  Mark Lewis
Chief Instructor:  Chuck Veth
Chief of Instructor Development:  Rick Canter
DE Treasurer:  Susan Vaccaro
Chief Steward:  Dan Malaquias

Please let the above named people know that you appreciate their efforts.   Volunteers are the life-blood of our program and everyone’s help is key to our successful DE program.   While our instructors have not been able to use their talents instructing our new drivers, we will have them back with students soon.  It will be great to have drivers from all the rungroups back at the track.

We are planning to have a great DE season in 2021.   We have an event scheduled every month from April through November.  If you don’t have your car ready for our April event, get going and get it ready for May.  You don’t want to keep putting off the maintenance on your car.  The season flies by very quickly and you want to make the most of the opportunities you have to get out on the track, enjoy your car, see your fellow Porsche enthusiasts and improve your driving skills.

Be safe.  See you at the track.
Dave
